July 17, 2026

Each source is reported separately, so a sole trader who also lets a flat sends updates for the trade and updates for the property business. UK property and overseas property are separate again. This catches people out because the mandation test is applied to your combined qualifying income: £30,000 of self-employment and £25,000 of rent is £55,000 of qualifying income, so you are in from April 2026, even though neither source would qualify alone. It also means more submissions per quarter, not one merged one. The saving grace is that software handles this once it is structured properly at setup, which is exactly why the setup matters — a business set up as a single blended pot is painful to unpick after mandation.
